Under Critical Path Method (CPM) the project is analyzed into different operations or activities and their relationships are determined and shown on the network diagrams. The steps involved in using PERT/CPM is given below:

• The project is divided into a number of clearly identified activities.
• These clearly identified activities are arranged in logical sequence.
• In CPM cost required to complete the project is also calculated
• A network diagram is prepared to show the sequence of activities
